Society of St Vincent de Paul

Thank you to all the parishioners who participated in our Bags of Love campaign during November/December either by returning filled bags or by donating food or money. Through your generosity 148 filled bags were returned. In addition we purchased food for a further 72 bags which our members packed. That’s 220 Bags of Love which were distributed and in so doing helped nearly 900 needy with food for a week.

Thank you Food Lovers Market for supplying the good quality empty bags.

Thank you for your concern for the needy and your wonderful response to SVP’s annual Bags of Love campaign.

Soup Kitchens

Soup kitchens continue to play an important role in feeding the hungry and we are currently aiding 30 soup kitchens. Each of these kitchens serve around 100-150 poor every day. We are still supporting MES, Mercy Aids, CAN, Hotspot Kitchens, Dammert and Olympians who cover Klipheuwel, Fisantekraal, Kraaifontein, Brackenfell, Wallacedene, Bloekombos and Bellville South serving thousands of hungry each day. These soup kitchens have become critical in the communities with the second C-19 wave having taken its toll. January is also a critical month as many social grants run out and payments are delayed.

THANK YOU

To all our generous parishioners and friends for food donations at this critical time which has enabled the Society to continue helping the many poor with food and soup.
