Parishioners and friends knit and quilt for the disadvantaged
Joan Gear, Barry Street’s sister, is a star quilter. Joan has used her exceptional talent and created the most beautiful quilts for the children at Mamawethu Home for abandoned children. Each quilt was different with artistically designed patterns, shapes and colours. They are awesome, and the children absolutely loved them.
Lesley Schroeder has been knitting children’s jerseys for SVP for many years now. Lesley has knitted over 300 beautiful jerseys and these we always distribute to needy children. These jerseys are so welcome in winter and make a huge difference in children’s lives.
Vicky Haupt and her knitting group have knitted over 200 scarves and jerseys for SVP. We handed the scarves out to the pupils of Valley Primary in Durbanville amid much excitement.
Joan, Lesley and Vicky – thank you all for making a huge difference in the lives of many children.
