Society of St Vincent de Paul

As we approach the World Day of the Poor on November 17, 2024, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to uplift those in need within our community. This year, Pope Francis has issued a heartfelt message that resonates deeply with our mission at the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) in Durbanville.

To celebrate the 8th World Day of the Poor on 17th November, SVP will be making 1500 sandwiches. These will be distributed to MES and to 7 of our soup kitchens.
Pope Frances Message Impact
The Essence of Solidarity

In his message, Pope Francis emphasizes the importance of **solidarity** with the poor, urging us to recognize their dignity and worth. He reminds us that poverty is not merely a lack of material wealth but also a deprivation of hope and community. As members of SVP, we are called to be the voice for the voiceless, extending our hands and hearts to those who feel isolated and forgotten.

A Call to Action

The Holy Father encourages us to take tangible steps to alleviate poverty. This can be as simple as engaging in conversations with those who are struggling or volunteering our time and resources. Each act of kindness contributes to building a more compassionate community.
