1. A letter from the Hillson Africa Foundation
Yesterday was the culmination to a big week in seeing the Hillsong Africa Foundation Chanan54 team assisting the good people of Fisantekraal and Manenberg, with 250 families provided with food parcels, 20,000+ provided with Vetkoek mix and a good number of soup kitchens supported across both locations.
In Manenberg, we had another day of peaceful work amongst 4 of the gangs, the soup kitchens and pastors and numerous community members.
And in Fisantekraal the community-led team did a great job focusing on the squatter camp, a series of soup kitchens and the many families that are making Vetkoek and fresh bread for the kids and elderly in their streets throughout each week.
The highlight of the day though was supplying dozens of families of foreign nationals living in townships across Cape Town with bulk goods for their families to share. Our team believe that supporting the most vulnerable (as the Bible would term “the least of these”) irrespective of background, nationality, religion etc – is core to our calling, thus we will be looking to expand this through existing relationships over the coming weeks of this crisis. If you know of people or families who fit this category and who have slipped through the cracks of existing support structures, please let us know and we will endeavour to assist.
I trust y’all had a blessed and peaceful Mother’s Day friends.
Stay blessed
Andie
