Josiah Trust

The actvities of the Josiah Trust are run by a group of people primarily belongng to the Durbanville Community Church in Durbanville, Cape Town.

The Josiah Trust is heavily involved with the people of Klipheuwel, an informal settlement on the northern border of Durbanville, and provides an extensive range of help to the community including running a small clinic, kitchen and several self help initiatives.

On Thursday 15th June the community was severely affected by the heavy rains that cause the Mosselbank river to burst its banks and flood many of the shacks. Many other shacks were also affected due to the heavy rains.

The Society of St Vincent de Paul already provides assistance to the Josiah Trust on a regular basis and has contributed an additional R3,000 for blankets to help those affected by the floods.

The following is a message from the Josiah Trust with respect to the floods in Klipheuwel

A massive “Thank you!” to all those who responded so generously and so quickly to the call for help in Klipheuwel and elsewhere in our city. God bless you all.

A wonderful and servant-hearted team of women and young people lead by Lwazikazi Sokutu were able to provide shelter for families that needed it in the church building with warm dry blankets and a warm meal of chicken, potatoes, carrots, bread and apples.

This team then sacrificed their public holiday the following day to give out food and dry clothes to those who had been the most affected as well as those whose houses had leaked and left most of what they have drenched.

But without those who gave so promptly and freely, this was not possible.

Thank you again.

Please keep this community in your prayers.
